Location-Aware Guides & Audio App with Geospatial Backend
A native SwiftUI app for curated local guides — GPS-triggered audio narration, map pins, feed, follows and sponsored content — with a Django/GeoDjango REST backend on AWS.
What I built
- Native SwiftUI app with real-time GPS tracking and location-aware routing that triggers audio narration by proximity; streaming with offline media storage, secure content sync and personalised sessions.
- Designed the guide → experience → place model with GeoDjango/PostGIS, distance-aware feed queries, and Google Place ID sourcing tooling for admin imports with images.
- Built and refined the feed, guide cards, map view and follow/like/bookmark flows; sponsored-content gating for professional accounts; fixed a private-guides exposure bug.
- Proposed and estimated guest (no-login) browsing, view-count and engagement tracking, a public web “guides hub”, and an Apple In-App-Purchase sponsor subscription.
- Run the AWS environment: EC2 sizing, SSM-managed secrets, Redis, S3, SendGrid, push notifications, Braintree payments, Dockerised dev setup.
