I recently installed the Ubuntu Remix on my netbook. The most annoying feature i found was the ‘Maximus’. It maximizes every window you open, even small windows which should not be maximized. This is how you can disable this feature. Press Alt + F2, enter gconf-editor, Go to -> /apps/maximus/no_maximize and set it to “true”
